Bridging Cultures: An Erasmus+ visit from Gran Canaria to Komvux Malmö

In February, we had the pleasure of welcoming teachers from CEIP Los Quintana, CEIP La Goleta in Gran Canaria to Komvux Malmö as part of our Erasmus+ initiative. This visit was not just a cultural exchange but a significant step towards enhancing our childcare and leisure programs through international collaboration.

A Productive Exchange

The visit kicked off with a warm welcome from the staff at Komvux Malmö, where our guests explored our facilities and engaged with our educators. The program included visits to various schools in Malmö, including preschool and primary levels, allowing our visitors to observe firsthand how we integrate multilingualism and inclusivity into our teaching practices.

One of the highlights of the visit was the two workshops conducted by Juan Carlos Alonso González, an expert in the Newton Mathematics program from Gran Canaria. His innovative approach to teaching mathematics sparked great interest among our educators. Participants praised the clarity and applicability of his methods, which focus on deep understanding and critical thinking. The feedback from these workshops was overwhelmingly positive, with many teachers eager to implement the strategies learned in their own classrooms.

Preparing for the Next Step

In just two weeks, we will reciprocate this visit by sending our students from the childcare vocational education program to Gran Canaria. This opportunity will allow them to practice at various preschools and schools, gaining invaluable experience in a different cultural context. This aligns perfectly with our Erasmus+ plan, which emphasizes the importance of practical learning and exposure to diverse educational environments.

Our Erasmus+ plan is designed to strengthen students' lifelong learning by fostering knowledge about multilingualism and integration in educational settings. By increasing our educators' understanding of these concepts, we aim to create a more inclusive and multicultural environment for all students. The upcoming visit to Gran Canaria will further our goals of promoting international collaboration and enhancing educational outcomes.

Looking Ahead

Through initiatives like this, we hope to broaden our understanding of different cultures and pedagogical approaches. The Erasmus+ program encourages not only professional development for educators but also enriches the learning experiences of our students. We are excited about the potential outcomes of our students’ upcoming internships in Gran Canaria and the lasting impact these experiences will have on their professional journeys.

As we continue to engage with our partners in Gran Canaria, we look forward to sharing insights, best practices, and fostering a spirit of collaboration that transcends borders. The journey of learning is truly a global one, and we are proud to be part of it.

Stay tuned for updates and photos from our students' adventure in Gran Canaria!
