New College Lanarkshire have recently launched a survey as part of their Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project. The questionnaire seeks to help better understand the current awareness and perceived value of non-formal and informal learning within prison settings and the possibilities and challenges.

Cedefop is the agency which supports development of European vocational education and training (VET) policies and contributes to their implementation. In December 2015 they issued their revised guidelines for validating non-formal and informal learning. This second edition of the European guidelines is the result of a two-year process involving a wide range of stakeholders active in validation at European, national and/or sectoral levels.

– The refugee crisese and the oil crises have reinforced the need to develop a national and holistic skills strategy. This was the message from the Minister of Education and Research as he welcomed the social partners in the Norwegian labour market to the first out of five conferences dedicated to this national effort.

Representing involved parties within government and the two sides of industry, about a hundred delegates were gathered to present their contributions and priorities as to what a national skills strategy would need to include.

Molti i temi in gioco legati ai diversi livelli educativi: dalla prima alfabetizzazione, all’orientamento per l’inserimento nel lavoro, fino alle competenze di empowerment per diventare cittadini attivi. Il percorso di formazione degli operatori riguarda soggetti e ambiti educativi diversi - università, CPIA, associazioni, volontariato, enti locali - che devono lavorare insieme in rete.

The Norwegian Government has proposed to improve opportunities for foreign artisans to receive formal recognition of their prior skills as long as it is on par with Norwegian craft certificates. The new system will be important for foreign artisans who need to start looking for new jobs, and for the integration of refugees in the labor market.

What are the requirements (CZE , AUT, SR) for employees in the most frequent occupations in the border areas? How to be qualified to work abroad? What are the differences in obtaining qualifications in formal and nonformal education in these countries? CrossVet project is trying to answer these questions.

Freire (1921–1997) is one of the most significant educational thinkers of the twentieth century.  His didactic was that education can be for liberation only if there is equality between teacher and learner. Freire maintained that the student must form the centre of the educational process.   

Competence-based qualifications have been available for adults in Finland for 20 years already. The survey ordered by the Finnish National Board of Education in honour of the anniversary shows that a competence-based qualification increases the professional skills of the candidate and improves their status in the labour market even in a poor economy.
