The first in this new series of policy briefs builds on the outcomes of the Agency's Vocational Education and Training (VET) project (2010–2012). The project identified four main groups of stakeholders whose roles are crucial in improving the performance of VET systems: the VET institution’s management, the VET staff, learners, and labour market representatives.

De afgelopen jaren werkten partners uit  Spanje, Turkije, Nederland, Duitsland en Noorwegen aan het SEA project:  Specialization for European Teachers of Basic Skills for Adults. Idee van SEA was het maken van een verdiepingsslag voor de professionalisering van docenten die lesgeven in basisvaardigheden aan volwassenen. Beoogde doelstellingen waren:

  • Het verzamelen van expertise in de partnerlanden over competenties die nodig zijn voor werknemers en vrijwilligers in het volwassenenonderwijs in het algemeen en docenten basisvaardigheden in het bijzonder.

The past few years partners from Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, Germany and Norway worked on the SEA project: Specialization for European Teachers of Basic Skills for Adults. The overall aim of SEA was to improve the delivery of literacy & basic skills courses for adults through adequately trained teachers. Objectives were:

  • To gather expertise in the partner countries on competences needed for workers and volunteers in adult education in general and basic skills teachers in particular.

Die Studie "Information und Vernetzung – Bedarfe und Erwartungen von Lehrkräften an online-gestützte Fortbildungsangebote" von Sabine Schöb, Moritz Sahlender, Peter Brandt, Monika Fischer und Ole Wintermann fasst die Ergebnisse einer Umfrage der Universität Tübingen im Auftrag der Bertelsmann Stiftung und des Deutschen Instituts für Erwachsenenbildung (DIE) zusammen. In der Erwachsenenbildung existiert in Deutschland kein übergreifendes Konzept für die Qualifizierung bzw. die Aus- und Fortbildung der Lehrkräfte.

Arbeitsorientierte Grundbildung (AoG) stellt Bildungsinstitutionen und Lehrende vor neue Herausforderungen: AoG ist ein „aufsuchendes“ Angebot; es geht darum, Betriebe anzusprechen, zu informieren, zu sensibilisieren; es müssen passgenaue Angebote konzipiert werden, die dem Bedarf von Beschäftigten und Betrieb gerecht werden; das Lernen soll möglichst arbeitsnah stattfinden; Nutzen und Zugewinn sollen möglichst transparent werden usf.

Under the European Agenda of Adult Learning project, ‘Taking the Next Steps’, Education and Training Boards were invited to participate in a national promotional strategy by hosting events to raise awareness about their education and training opportunities and the outcomes and benefits for adult learners. In early February Adult Education Officers in each ETB were notified about the project and sent an application form to access €600 in funds to support an event.

In 2014, Arts Council England commissioned SImetrica to conduct a study to value the health and wellbeing benefits of public libraries.

Libraries have an important role in society as providers of a range of services from book-lending and computer access, training courses and meeting space. But understanding the value of libraries is a complex issue due to the wide-ranging services that libraries provide and the inherently non-market nature of these services (most are free at the point of use).

On 2 July 2015, the European Commission (DG Migration and Home Affairs) and the OECD (International Migration Division) released "Indicators of Immigrant Integration – Settling In 2015". This joint report constitutes the first broad international comparison across all EU as well as OECD countries of the outcomes for migrants and their children and covers 34 key indicators in areas such as employment, education and skills, social inclusion, civic engagement and social cohesion.

Questo è stato l'intervento dei componenti del FaberLab di Varese durante il seminario EPALE che si è svolto a Firenze mercoledi 8 Luglio. L'intervento ha suscitato molto interesse tra i partecipanti che hanno potuto conoscere e scoprire le dinamiche di una realtà consolidata e attiva sul territorio italiano.

O artigo apresenta dados empíricos de caracterização do modo como se organiza e dinamiza o trabalho educativo no sistema português de certificação de adquiridos ou Sistema Nacional de Reconhecimento, Validação e Certificação de Competências (SNRVCC), tendo por base um estudo de caso realizado no Centro Novas Oportunidades (CNO) da Associação Nacional das Oficinas de Projecto (ANOP). São identificadas características do modo como o trabalho educativo em RVCC foi concebido e implementado naquele Centro durante o período analisado, tornando possível a posterior reflexão sobre eventuais diferenças comparativas com o modelo escolar de educação de adultos (EA). Por fim, problematiza-se a noção de trabalho educativo em EA partindo de uma abordagem abrangente, heterogénea e complexa do conceito, cuja fonte radica nos princípios do movimento da educação permanente.
