Began in 2010, the Winnet 8 project aimed to get more women into work and creating new businesses as a means of boosting growth across Europe’s regions. As well as this personalised approach, it also set out to shape regional, national and EU-level policies that relate to women’s status in the labour market and ensure these approaches are integrated into mainstream policies. In this way, addressing, at the level of policy development, the challenges that exist and that can make it difficult for women to secure jobs or further their careers in certain sectors and roles.

The cultural association "Moinho da Juventude", from Amadora city in district of the Portuguese capital Lisbon, is home to many immigrants from former Portuguese colonies seeking a better life in the city. This association launched a series of specific training programmes to promote the employment and social inclusion of adults, young people and children from this disadvantaged group.

'Taal voor Thuis' (‘Language for home’) is a family literacy initiative currently taking place across The Netherlands. The programme is aimed at parents/ carers with children aged 2 to 12 years old. Unique to this programme in The Netherlands is the combination of training parents in home learning strategies for language and literacy development, alongside developing their own Dutch literacies  and self-sufficiency. All these three aspects are given equal importance in the programme. Language for Home is funded by the Dutch government’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

Coralesce were commissioned by HOLEX, the organisation representing the Adult and Community Learning sector, to research into the current use of learning technologies in ACL institutions.

Thirty percent of ACL organisations responded across the sector. The findings have been invaluable to the Edtech-Assess project.

An adult learning booklet has been launched on 15 July 2015. This booklet guides learners in choosing courses to improve their skills. In this booklet there is information about the education centres and relevant courses on offer as well as the dates and times when each course will take place. Lifelong learning educators and guidance counsellors can use this resource to help students select appropriate courses on offer in Malta and Gozo.

Discutir os principais resultados de uma investigação acerca da problemática da educação, formação e certificação de adultos é o objectivo fundamental do artigo. Desenvolve-se uma avaliação ex-post dos impactes de cursos de educação e formação de adultos (EFA), acções s@ber+ e processos de reconhecimento, validação e certificação de competências (RVCC), frequentados por adultos activos, entre 2003 e 2005, em entidades formadoras do Vale do Sousa. Os resultados da avaliação de impacte incidem, do lado da procura de emprego, nas esferas profissionais, formativas e pessoais dos adultos, e, do lado da oferta de emprego, sobre os resultados empresariais e a empregabilidade aferidos por parte das organizações empregadoras.

O presente estudo aborda a temática da educação e formação de adultos, nomeadamente, as perspectivas internacionais que surgiram no âmbito deste campo de estudo, bem como as práticas existentes em Portugal. No nosso país, os Centros de Reconhecimento, Validação e Certificação de Competências, actualmente designados por Centros Novas Oportunidades, e o processo de reconhecimento, validação e certificação de Competências (RVCC), enquanto modalidade de educação e formação, assumem um papel de destaque no quadro da aprendizagem ao longo da vida. O modelo analítico pressupõe que o processo de RVCC promove uma maior participação no mercado de trabalho; uma maior participação em iniciativas de educação e formação; uma maior participação na vida social e comunitária; a aquisição e melhoria de conhecimentos, aptidões e competências; o desenvolvimento e enriquecimento pessoal dos sujeitos. Foram realizados dois estudos com adultos certificados pelo Centro de RVCC da Profisousa. O primeiro estudo (N=144), baseado na análise de documentos, dá a conhecer o perfil das pessoas que procuram os Centros de RVCC; o segundo estudo (N=101), de carácter transversal, recorre à técnica do questionário e investiga os efeitos da passagem dos indivíduos por um processo de RVCC. Os resultados revelam uma população com trajectórias associadas a percursos marcados por carências nas dimensões individual, social e comunitária, educativa e formativa, assim como na dimensão laboral. Por outro lado, o processo de RVCC tem mais impactos em termos pessoais do que sociais e laborais e gera uma atitude e comportamentos positivos relativamente à aprendizagem.

By working alongside employers, the centre proactively seeks to overcome skills shortages through high quality vocational courses.

Welche digitalen Lernformen werden in den kommenden Jahren die Weiterbildung bestimmen? Und für welche Zielgruppen eignen sich diese Lernformen besonders? Diese Expertise stützt sich auf Studien zum E-Learning, die das MMB-Institut für Medien- und Kompetenzforschung in den letzten Jahren durchgeführt hat. Hierfür stellt der Beitrag eine „Lernertypologie“ vor, die hilft, einzelnen Zielgruppen die passenden Lernformen anzubieten. Auf Basis der Studie „MMB Learning Delphi 2013“ werden anschließend Trends aufgezeigt, die das digitale Lernen in den kommenden Jahren bestimmen werden.

The STRIDES Alliance has tackled deprivation in the Neath Port Talbot area by calling on an innovative multi-agency approach. Thanks to a series of ‘simulated working environments’, more than one thousand local people currently without a job have either gained a qualification, enhanced their employability skills or been guided on a path to further education.

La motivation fait la différence!

Étalé sur une durée de deux ans, le projet «Augmenter l'employabilité des jeunes chômeurs» a été mis sur pied dans le but de doter des demandeurs d'emploi âgés de 18 à 29 ans de la confiance et des compétences nécessaires pour décrocher un emploi.Ceux-ci ont suivi quatre modules de formation: apprendre à rédiger un CV et une lettre de motivation; se préparer pour un entretien d'embauche; développer de meilleures capacités de communication; et définir des objectifs de carrière professionnels et élaborer un plan d'action.

Motivation makes the difference!

The two-year project entitled ‘Increasing the employability of jobless youngsters’ was designed to equip 18 to 29-year-old jobseekers with the confidence and skills they needed to secure work.They undertook four training modules: learning how to write a CV and letter of motivation; preparing for interview; upgrading their communication skills; and drawing up career objectives and a plan of action.

ESF support was vital for the project, which couldn't have been brought to fruition without it.
