New Digital Education Action Plan: Live chat

On 14 July, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, will host a live chat on the topic of the new Digital Education Action Plan. The live chat will offer the opportunity to engage with citizens across Europe on the topic of digital education, both in terms of the implications of the COVID-19 crisis and their broader vision for European digital education.
Send your questions for Mariya Gabriel on Facebook – @EUErasmusPlusProgramme – and Twitter – @EUErasmusPlus and @EUDigitalEdu.

Background

In September 2020, the European Commission will adopt a new Digital Education Action Plan promoting high-quality, accessible and inclusive education and training in the digital age. In the past months, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an unprecedented switch to distance and online learning to ensure continuity of the education and training process. The crisis demonstrated that reinforced efforts are needed at the EU level to promote the availability of digital infrastructure and the possession of digital skills among learners, educators and parents.
To inform the new Digital Education Action Plan and to gather the views and experiences of citizens, institutions, organisations and companies during the coronavirus crisis, the Commission launched an open public consultation on 18 June. The consultation will run until 4 September 2020. It will be made available in all official EU languages on 9 July. The process will be complemented by a series of outreach events engaging a wide range of stakeholders. The Action Plan contributes to the European Commission’s broader ambition to create a European Education Area by 2025.

Want to contribute further to the future of European education?

On 9 July, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, will also host a video conference with youth representatives from across Europe on the future of education. Tune into the discussion to discover the vision of young people helping to shape the European Education Area!
