The non-profit organisation TED has launched the TED-Ed Innovative Educator programme to help the professional development of educators.

Innovative Educator is a year-long programme for dynamic teachers and trainers. Its goal is “to spark thoughtful innovation in education around the world”. The programme connects leaders from TED’s network of over 250,000 educators.

The programme launched in closed beta this summer with 28 educators from 11 countries. During the first two months of their training they learnt about digital learning tools and using video in education.

Over the next 10 months each innovative educator will work on a project with the aim of having a positive impact on students or teachers in their communities.

Applications for the next class of innovative educators will open in December 2015.
