Adult Education – a major player in lifelong learning – Quantitative analysis

Sprache: EN

Eingesandt von Michèle Mombeek

Adult Education in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation is part of the lifelong education and training drive. It enables each learner to acquire new skills and to obtain a diploma or certification in secondary and higher education. As such it contributes to the development of the individual and constitutes a real tool of occupational integration.

Created in cooperation with the Department of Research of the General Secretariat, the Department of Adult Education, the ARES and the IWEPS, the quantitative analysis developed in this brochure sheds light on this type of education and the plethora of areas of intervention for the first time.

This publication comprises three parts:

  1. A description of the organization and resources of Adult Education through, in particular, its budgetary aspects and data relating to the instructors. This part helps also to describe the modular system in place which is at the heart of this  education;
  2. Its target group, namely the population of Wallonia and Brussels, aged 18 and over;
  3. An analysis of its many activities and specific projects.
