Recognition of Learning for Volunteers: the Volunteer Passport Scheme

Slough Council for Voluntary Service (SCVS) launched their Volunteer Passport Scheme in March 2018, with the aim to provide courses to upskill volunteers so that they are provided with all the skills required to be a confident volunteer, to make a difference and to deal with all types of situations.

To gain recognition of learning through the Volunteer Passport, volunteers must attend all four free short training courses. The courses are as follows:

  1. Equality and Diversity
  2. Communication Skills
  3. Boundaries and Confidentiality
  4. Safeguarding

So far, the initiative has proved to be a success; a number of sessions for each module has been held in 2018, with more planned at the end of this year and on multiple dates in 2019. The next course dates scheduled can be found here. SCVS have included a further course on First Aid Training separately also.

The Volunteer Passport allows you to have upskilled volunteers at no financial cost and allows volunteers to enhance their skills towards the Suitably Qualified Person standards. Other benefits include access to volunteer management courses and the ability to access the SCVS database of trained volunteers for recruitment purposes.

For further information, please visit the SCVS Training page on their website.
