TALES@home is a tool for multilingual families, with a strong family-centred approach. It can be used to enhance the language environment at home and in situations where the language choices have an influence on individual family members’ wellbeing and language learning abilities. Varied activities are helping the different family members to reflect on their language use (especially at home), linked emotions and expectations. Secondly they are encouraged to talk about these issues in an open and respectful way. The role of the professional during the use of the tool is to reinforce this reflection and communication.
The tool is available for professionals speaking English, German, French, Italian, Lithuanian and Dutch.
In this course we will present the wider perspective of sustaining multilingual families to help to create a stimulating language learning environment taking into account the wellbeing of each family member. There will be time to exchange experiences and cases. Participants will practice the use of the tool. The visits create the possibility to observe activities with children/parents.
