On 12 November 2019, Erasmus+ held the Inspiring Inclusion event in London, showcasing examples of the exciting work taking place through Erasmus+ initiatives, projects and partnerships that support inclusion. Major questions were put to delegates for deliberation at the end of the event and themes related to the questions were covered extensively during the conference. A summary of responses and discussions that emerged to answer the questions are summarised in this blog post.

 „Migratory Musics“ strukturiert ein Netzwerk aus europäischen Partnern, um Praktiken und Gedanken über die Rolle von Kunst und Schule bei einer sozialen Integration auszutauschen, die das kulturelle Erbe der Personen nicht unterdrückt. Wiegenlieder gelten hier als eine Spur dieses kulturellen Erbes, und sind die Grundlage für ein Vertrauensverhältnis zwischen Kindern, ihren Familien und ihrer neuen Umgebung.
 “Migratory Musics” brings together a network of European partners keen to share their practices and thoughts on the role of the arts and school in the process of social integration, without erasing people's cultural heritage. Lullabies are considered as a trace of this heritage, from which a relationship of trust is built between children, their families and their new environment.

Adult educators should not just adjust to the rapid changes in our society, but engage also in shaping of the society, when needed. To do this, we need change-oriented adult education. FuturelabAE-project aims to inspire adult educators to take a more proactive role in solving modern day challenges. 

Aikuisten kouluttamisessa ei tulisi pelkästään mukautua nopeisiin yhteiskunnallisiin muutoksiin vaan myös tarvittaessa osallistua yhteiskunnan muuttamiseen. Tähän tarvitaan muutosorientoitunutta aikuiskoulutusta. FuturelabAE-hankkeen tavoitteena on kannustaa aikuiskouluttajia ottamaan aloitteellisempi rooli nykypäivän haasteiden ratkaisemisessa.

These training couses are designed to assist migrants in enhancing their language, digital and entrepreneurial skills with regards to creative industries’ requirements within European Societies. 

Projekt Silver Civic Education SCE (Erasmus +, 2017 - 2019) opierał się na diagnozie, że najważniejszym powodem wykluczenia osób starszych są niewystarczające, szeroko rozumiane umiejętności komunikacyjne. Ta kategoria obejmuje również trudności ze zrozumieniem mediów i oficjalnych wiadomości i dokumentów, brak możliwości dotarcia do potrzebnych informacji, brak umiejętności cyfrowych, umiejętność posługiwania się językami obcymi oraz formułowanie wiadomości, które odpowiadają potrzebom współczesnego odbiorcy.

David Campbell Event Management facilitated the Broadening Horizons For Life Erasmus+ fully-funded mobility project that took learners from the UK to Spain where they gained a cultural education, sports knowledge and team building skills. The presentation covers the events that took place during the trip, provides great images and can be adapted by others to use for their own projects.

Intercultural Communication in Education

The beginning of the training will give an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other better, after that will follow an introduction of the training program and objectives.  

The following session will examine the notion of culture, the relation between the culture and the language and the importance of understanding cultural differences. Thanks to informal methodologies we will analyse some effective intrapersonal and interpersonal communication skills required to build relationships.

The Free Thinking Programme for Survivors of Modern Slavery allows victims of modern slavery and human trafficking to gain an education and enjoy part-time residency on campus at Northern College. The second of a series of blog posts about the programme, this piece provides an insight into the experiences of one of the students, who gives thanks to her educators and describes her feelings concerning her status as a modern slavery survivor. Educators working with vulnerable groups may find this blog psot beneficial for better understanding the trauma that some learners have to cope with and to help them provide the best learning experience. 

Jim Sheehan is Director of The Social and Health Education Project (SHEP). SHEP is a community education and development project founded in 1974 that is active in Cork, Kerry and Limerick. SHEP have used Erasmus+ Adult Education funding to support staff training and professional development since 2014.  Jim shares SHEP’s experience of using Erasmus+, and his advice for  organisations considering getting involved.

Georgina Heffernan is Communications Manager with Capacity Ireland, a community-based vocational training organisation that provides work placements in Creative Industries, Digital Media and Community Development through Erasmus+ VET Mobility funding. Georgina is a former journalist and magazine editor, who has received the Gladys McNevin Trophy for PR excellence from the Public Relations Institute of Ireland. In this post, she discusses why Capacity Ireland use participant case studies in their dissemination strategy and gives advice on how to tailor content to reach different audiences.

Всъщност, каквато и форма да има, какъв е размерът, всеки от тях се стреми към постигане на общи цели: социална, образователна, екологична, естетическа, забавна…
По този начин те прилагат практики на участие, в тяхното проектиране, управление и начин на работа. Този инструментариум е насочен към всички хора или организации, които желаят да използват градското градинарство като образователен инструмент.

Οι αστικοί κήποι αναπτύσσονται σε όλο τον κόσμο για να ενθαρρύνουν την τοπική παραγωγή και κατανάλωση, την κοινωνική ένταξη, τον διάλογο και την υιοθέτηση ενός βιώσιμου τρόπου ζωής. Πράγματι, ανεξάρτητα από το σχήμα, το μέγεθός του, κάθε ένας από αυτούς επιδιώκει την επίτευξη κοινών στόχων: κοινωνικoύς, εκπαιδευτικούς, οικολογικούς, αισθηaτικούς, διασκέδαση κτλ. Συνακόλουθα, εφαρμόζονται συμμετοχικές πρακτικές στο σχεδιασμό, τη διαχείριση και τον τρόπο λειτουργίας τους.

Igennem 2019 har vi i en række artikler forsøgt at give et indblik i, hvordan forskellige dele af den danske voksenlæringssektor arbejder med internationalisering, og hvad de får ud af de forskellige Erasmus+-projekter, de har deltaget i.

Sześcioro nauczycieli z Uniwersytetu Ludowego w Radawnicy brało udział w projekcie w ramach programu PO WER, w którym dwukrotnie wyjechali do Hiszpanii w celu podnoszenia własnych kompetencji. Oba wyjazdy okazały się być wspaniałym pomysłem na podbudowanie morale zespołu nauczycielskiego naszej placówki i przyczyniły się do wprowadzania nowości do warsztatu pracy naszej kadry nauczycielskiej.

The development of citizens’ knowledge, skills and competences has always been priority to the European community. Therefore the recognition of that knowledge, skills and competences is a very important issue for the development of competitiveness, employment and social cohesion in the European community.

The activities of the project "Compare Digital curricula for HEalth and Social Care Education" enabled 4 organizations from 3 partner countries to meet, compare and discuss the different digital curricula they use within their courses. The difference in the level of development of the different organizations, helped partners share experience and apply suitable content in their organizations.

The European Solidarity Corps brings together young people through volunteering, traineeships or employment to build a more inclusive society. Different types of projects can be funded, including ‘Solidarity Projects’, which take place here in Ireland and are thought up, developed and put into action by young people themselves.

The "WEB PER TUTTI" Social Promotion Association has been operating in Sulmona (Italy) for almost 4 years. Its activities range over the following subject: narrowing of the digital divide, responsible use of the network, social inclusion and new behaviours towards the working world. The Association offers to its members (mostly over 60 adults) and to the entire city community several projects about various themes: art, foreign languages, drama, computer studies, etc.

El Centro Público de Educación de Personas Adultas Ricardo Sola Almau se encuentra en la zaragozana localidad de Cariñena, se trata de un centro rural que atiende 11 localidades mediante sus aulas adscritas. Su plantilla docente tiene interés en la investigación e innovación educativa, especialmente por las metodologías basadas en las tecnologías con la finalidad de reducir la brecha digital en la población de mayor edad.
Wir haben mit Frédéric Peyrou, stellvertretendem Direktor der Vereinigung Insert Net de Bordeaux, über das europäische Solidérance-Projekt (ERASMUS-Projekt) gesprochen, zu deren Initiatoren er gehört. Das im Jahr 2017 begonnene Projekt wurde von einem Konsortium aus Organisationen aus dem Großraum Bordeaux durchgeführt, die sich auf Berufsbildung, Integration und Solidarität spezialisiert haben.   Angesichts der Experimente, der beobachteten Auswirkungen und Erfolge wird Ende 2019 ein zweites Projekt unter dem Titel Solidérance 2 vorbereitet, das insbesondere die Anzahl der Partnerstrukturen und der Bauprojekte ausweiten soll.
We spoke with Frédéric Peyrou, Deputy Director of the association Insert Net in Bordeaux about the European Solidérance project (an ERASMUS project), of which he is one of the initiators. The project was launched in 2017, and is run by a consortium of organisations from the Bordeaux metropolitan area specialising in vocational training, integration and solidarity.   In light the impacts and successes observed in the experiments carried out, a second project, Solidérance 2, is currently under preparation. It is particularly aimed at increasing the number of partner structures and construction sites.

Aceasta ar trebui să abiliteze oamenii, astfel încât, să fie în măsură să își exercite drepturile și să contribuie la modelarea progreselor societății.

The WAMDIA curriculum was developed with these users in mind, particularly those who are not IT professionals, but whose work involves creating digital content that must be accessible to all who come across it; in fact, the target is any ICT users conscious of the need to make all the digital content they create accessible to everyone.
