Third edition of Springer's international handbook on lifelong learning published

The first quarter of 2023 saw the publication of Springer's International Handbook of Lifelong Learning, which explores current trends and issues in adult learning. The merit of this collection is that the thematic chapters spotlight issues that currently influence adult learning participation and achievement, whether in political, economic or social dimensions.
The Handbook is divided into four major sections each comprising 15-16 chapters:
- Philosophy, History, and Theory Development
- Fresh Perspectives on Policy and Policy Development
- Emerging Programs and New Approaches
- Re-imagining Lifelong Learning for Future Challenges
The Handbook features learning innovations and evolving pedagogies such as intergenerational learning, art as pedagogy to promote public-mindedness, neuroscience enhancing learning effectiveness, and lifelong learning for sustainability. Both well-being and employability oriented interpretations are included in the Handbook. At the same time, fundamental ethical issues are addressed in the context of learning inclusion, access and opportunity, aligned with the complex sustainability context.
