Did you know that the number of veterinary doctors is increasing across Europe? Do you know how many veterinary doctors practice and what is veterinary education in the subject of communication with the client? To what extent the subject of communication with a client is covered by the obligatory study education for veterinary doctors?
You will find such and more information in an “International comparative analysis of the Medical Veterinary Doctors educational framework”  in the area of interpersonal communication with the client, published in the frame of EU Project COMVET.

In this comprehensive report, you will find interesting information and statistical data on veterinary doctors and veterinary students as well as the education system in the context of communication between the veterinarian and the client - the owner of the animal.

Veterinary doctors are a very specialized group of professionals in the field of medical professions who after graduation have to deal with various specific situations in the workplace. From year to year, the number of practicing veterinary doctors is increasing throughout Europe. At the same time, veterinary doctors in their daily professional practice have to face increasingly demanding clients - owners of animals. Veterinarians often face the challenge of changing the attitude of their clients, their needs and the increasingly demanding approach. This can be a serious barrier to work. Communication with the client (the owner of the animal) is a very specific type of contact. It includes the skills of personal communication, requires a certain level of empathy, but also knowledge of how to manage a conversation with the client to receive the necessary information to effectively diagnose the problem, communicate during treatment of the animal, and encourage the client to continue treatment to complete the entire medical process.

Therefore, the important task was to check to what extent European teaching models meet these growing needs in the area of effective and professional communication. All this information you will find in the presented publication.
