Migration ist Motor für vielfältige Veränderungsprozesse. Sie bietet Chancen, löst Konflikte und Irritationen aus. Auch Geschlechterthematiken gewinnen in diesem Kontext vermehrt an Bedeutung. Das Projekt G mit Niedersachsen hat die Themen Migration und Gleichstellung zusammengebracht und Bildungs-, Beratungs- und Vernetzungsangebote in diesem Bereich entwickelt und umgesetzt. Über die Arbeit des Projektes ist jetzt ein Fachreader erschienen, der nicht nur für Niedersachsen interessant ist. Er möchte zum Nachdenken anregen, irritieren und Fragestellungen aufgreifen, die dem Projektteam im Rahmen der Arbeit begegnet sind, und gibt einen Ausblick für die Ausrichtung einer geschlechtersensiblen Bildungsarbeit in der Zukunft.

Identifying Barriers to Learning – A Special Educational Needs Masterclass

Statistics in Europe suggest that at least 15.4% of the school population have a special educational need which is defined thus ‘A child or young person has Special Educational Needs (SEN) if he or she has learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for him or her to learn than most other children and young people of about the same age’. Barriers to learning range from Severe and Complex learning difficulties at the low end of the spectrum to Giftedness at the high end of the spectrum. Between these two extremes will be a range of more specific learning difficulties which include Dyslexia, Dyspraxia (DCD), Dyscalculia, ADD and ADHD; conditions nowadays common in our homes and classrooms. Many children and young people will have special educational needs of some kind during their education. Early years settings, schools, colleges and other organisations, as well as parents, can help most children and young people overcome their difficulties by increasing their awareness and understanding of the most common difficulties encountered and learning how to identify and support the remediation of these difficulties as early as possible. This course is aimed at all those professionals and paraprofessionals who wish to gain a greater understanding of the most common specific learning difficulties, how these can be identified, formally diagnosed and ultimately supported in a positive and effective way for all.

Montenegro is one of the countries that has successfully responded to the challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic and has shown a responsible approach to solving the many problems caused by this virus. As Lidija's organisation deals with capacity building in the non-governmental sector and the development of active learning and non-formal education, all training and conferences were postponed and she returned to her hometown and "moved" her office there.

Γνωρίζατε ότι ο πόνος που προκαλεί η κοινωνική απόρριψη- που προέρχεται, για παράδειγμα, από τον αποκλεισμό - ενεργοποιεί τις ίδιες περιοχές στον εγκέφαλο με τον φυσικό πόνο; Γιατί συμβαίνει αυτό; Σύμφωνα με τον νευροβιολόγο David Eagleman αυτό το φαινόμενο συμβαίνει, διότι οι κοινωνικοί δεσμοί είναι πολύ σημαντικοί για τους ανθρώπους. Κατά τον Eagleman, ο πόνος μάς ωθεί στο να σφυρηλατούμε δεσμούς με τους άλλους. Δημιουργούμε δεσμούς, διότι τους χρειαζόμαστε. [1] Πώς, λοιπόν, συμπεριφέρεται και πώς αισθάνεται ένα άτομο, όταν βρίσκεται σε απομόνωση; Φόβο, αβεβαιότητα, πανικό, μοναξιά; Σας φαίνονται οικεία όλα αυτά;

WWETB Adult Literacy and Language services partnered Education Scotland/Foghlam Alba for a two day visit to Glasgow, supported by Erasmus+ funding. The purpose of the visit was to share and increase knowledge, develop understanding and collate research on Adult Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Language) practices.
