A recolha empírica recorreu a: inquérito, observação e análise documental.

A project in Upper Austria is giving first-generation immigrants the skills and confidence they need to find their proper place in the labour market.

The Competence Workshop project starts from the premise that the skills and experiences of immigrants are not always recognised, which means they can end up working well below their appropriate level. To change this situation, personalised counselling is provided to help people make the most of their competences – and gain new ones!

A pilot project based in Klagenfurt and surrounding towns in southern Austria gave unemployed older people the chance to do meaningful work instead of waiting for retirement on benefits.

Thirteen people close to pension age were offered jobs with non-profit organisations. The income they earned from their work was, in most cases, higher than their unemployment benefit so their overall financial situation was improved. The project also allowed the participants to “top-up” missing periods of pension insurance.

Began in 2010, the Winnet 8 project aimed to get more women into work and creating new businesses as a means of boosting growth across Europe’s regions. As well as this personalised approach, it also set out to shape regional, national and EU-level policies that relate to women’s status in the labour market and ensure these approaches are integrated into mainstream policies. In this way, addressing, at the level of policy development, the challenges that exist and that can make it difficult for women to secure jobs or further their careers in certain sectors and roles.

Motivation makes the difference!

The two-year project entitled ‘Increasing the employability of jobless youngsters’ was designed to equip 18 to 29-year-old jobseekers with the confidence and skills they needed to secure work. They undertook four training modules: learning how to write a CV and letter of motivation; preparing for interview; upgrading their communication skills; and drawing up career objectives and a plan of action.

ESF support was vital for the project, which couldn't have been brought to fruition without it.

Curso: “Learning in Later Life Proving an Intergenerational Context”
