THE CPIA 1 FOGGIA IN NORMANDY TO STUDY ON THE FIELD THE SYSTEM OF SCHOOLS OF THE SECOND OPPORTUNITY

17/10/2019
Език: EN

From September 23 to October 4, in a department of Caen, at the Hèrouville-Saint-Clair École de la deuxième chance, in Normandy, France, took place the first mobility of 5 professors of the CPIA 1 Foggia, who were beneficiary of an Erasmus + funding, for activities of job shadowing.

The project, with the emblematic title A SECOND TIME FOR EVERYONE. SECOND OPPORTUNITIES ORGANIZATIONS IN COMPARISON,  is perfectly linked to the priority objectives of the PTOF of the CPIA 1 Foggia in the spirit of its mission, that is to say, to contribute to build a truly avant-garde school that increasingly meets the needs of the adult population and its territory, all through the training on the field of some teachers and then through dissemination of all the others.

In principle, the project, not yet completed, has foreseen two mobilities, one already made in France to observe the pedagogical system of the network of second chance schools, and one to be done in Spain to study the model of prison education.

Turned over 12 days, the first mobility in France practically allowed the performance of numerous activities. Participating lecturers, during the first week, carried out both structured and free language courses (French language and civilization course, guided and non-guided visits, institutional meetings, daily life) to arrive linguistically, ready to carry out the following actions. In fact, during the second week, exchange / sharing meetings were held with the operators (director, trainers, pedagogical officials), the representatives of the companies and the participants of the host center, and above all, the observation (job shadowing) of the various school situations, from teaching to the organization of the welcoming institution.

As envisaged in the application, the project is helping to meet the training needs of the teachers involved, in particular:

- strengthen linguistic-communicative competences in a second European language;

- enhance team working skills, problem solving skills and ability to relate productively in new contexts;

- confront / share ideas, materials, innovative methods, strategies and good practices;

- collaborate for the success of the project;

- acquire knowledge of a different adult education system.

For the last phase the question was posed: what to disseminate, so that the experience can serve as an example and inspire others, showing what can be achieved within the program?

As for the first mobility, the result essentially concerns an abstract product, a good practice to be taken as a model, in this specific case the pedagogical system at the base of the school visited: a truly successful device, which focuses on the student at risk of dispersion, helped to develop their own life and professional project in close connection with the world of work. On 12th October, on the occasion of the Erasmus Day organized by the CPIA 1 Foggia, through a round table, in which the project team, the manager, the administrative director and all the secretarial staff took part, the start was given to the follow-up phase with the presentation of the experience carried out.

The École de la deuxième chance (E2C) , outside of any classical school scheme, offers, in effect, a model to be mutated with due adaptations. It is a system that welcomes young people without qualifications, without work, with nothing but their motivation. From the outset, local companies are involved in building the professional plan of young people who decide to take this path. In particular, the path is based on individualization, alternation and the means dedicated to it. Each intern is accompanied by a single contact during his training, to be helped to formulate and build his professional project without becoming unmotivated.

The originality of E2C lies precisely in referring to several approaches and methodologies:

- an active pedagogy with a strong openness to city life;

- a contract pedagogy, which promotes accountability;

- a pedagogy of the project that helps to become aware of one's competences;

- a pedagogy of educational success that enhances one's acquisitions and progress.

The purpose of this type of training institution is to bring young people closer to companies. Alternation is at the heart of the E2C system and local companies are associated with the training process. Internships in the company represent on average 40% of the time spent on training and can last up to four weeks. A path in E2C gives young adults the opportunity to learn to learn with the ambition of acquiring skills, enabling them to access the first level of qualifications.

The E2C proposes a journey in the dimension of youth, whose duration varies according to its project, which consists of basic laboratories for leveling (French, mathematics, computer science, knowledge of the contemporary world, sports, ...), of social, cultural, citizenship and company internship projects.

A solution to the serious problem of early school leaving and youth unemployment ... what would be needed to make adult education more useful and effective.

To tell the truth, the CPIA 1 Foggia is not entirely foreign to this European opening, to which the school policies, both community and national, have long been pushing. The start in this direction was given in the distant a.s. 2014-2015 from a multilateral eTwinning project of European virtual twinning on entrepreneurship, which gave the school the high recognition of the national quality label. In addition, in the previous school year, a job shadowing project, with an Lliria homologous school in the Valencian region of Spain - within the Erasmus + action K1 program, has been completed successfully.

That of the CPIA 1 Foggia is undoubtedly another example of how the Erasmus + program can help to strengthen the spirit of European citizenship, understanding and solidarity among member countries.
