Course Overview: In our Internet dominated 21st-century multicultural society, academic success is increasingly dependent on students’ ability to plan their time, organize, prioritize, distinguish main ideas from details, monitor their own progress and reflect on their work. This course provides teachers with practical suggestions for scaffolding the teaching of selected educational, metacognitive strategies in a mixed ability as well as multicultural classroom. School-based instruction should not only emphasize on the content, or what, of learning but on the process, or how, as well. Meet colleagues from different countries and be encouraged to create an inclusive, active and open educational environment where children are taught how to learn according to their individual needs and learning styles.

Course Methodology: The course is based on “learning by doing and reflecting” training through various collaborative activities. The content and fundamental information will be introduced through thematic modules within a group instructional setting. You will be able to gradually generate classroombased as well as home-based strategies suitable not only for children with learning difficulties but typically developing as well in a multicultural setting.

This course provides teachers with practical suggestions for scaffolding the teaching of selected educational, metacognitive strategies in a mixed ability as well as multicultural classroom. Очаквани резултати от ученето
 Gain techniques for working with children with special needs, teaching mixed ability and deal
with increased diversity of learners.
 Understand advantages and disadvantages of approaches such as inclusion, mainstreaming,
streaming and tracking in order to enhance good quality of education and training for all
learners.
 Identify risk factors and different types of learning difficulties, promote relation between
education and research and apply innovative interventional activities.
 Cultivate students’ learning autonomy by explaining, presenting and modeling various
strategies inside classroom.
 Develop learner’s self-monitoring skills and other key competences (creativity, critical
thinking).
 Generate ready‐to‐use materials and examples of good practice to support school or
organizational development towards inclusion awareness through collaborative and active
pedagogies.
 Gain broader understanding of strategies and systems dealing with learning difficulties issues
and cultivate mutual respect among children with diverse learning skills
 Support continual professional development, revise and develop key competences, build
confidence in promoting innovative pedagogies that are responsive to mixed ability classes
 Meet colleagues of different nationalities within the EU, engage in cross-cultural learning
experience, exchange ideas and build a network for future international cooperation.
 Enrich communication skills, improve foreign language competencies, broaden professional
vocabulary and promote EU’s broad linguistic diversity
