Bulgaria: The Ministry of Education and Science is ready with the guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence

The Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria has released guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in schools. The document is not mandatory or binding, the department specified.

A working group at the Ministry of Education and Culture has been writing the guidelines for more than a month, which must now be used by teachers and especially principals, it is understood from the published document, since a large part of the decisions about the implementation of AI will depend on the principals.

The guidelines present exemplary ways in which AI can be used in education. As well as creating lessons, projects and writing essays, for example, it is also explained that AI can be used to identify students at risk of dropping out, which analyses grades and absences.

The ability of AI to generate examples in an unlimited amount and context contributes to increasing the quality of perception of the material in class, it is also written in the guidelines. And more – „in the future, generative AI may take on more significant roles in the creation of (individualized) interactive and dynamic educational content, which could potentially revolutionize curriculum design.“

The paper also notes that despite the large-scale cases AI is capable of solving, it is not a substitute for skills.
